PCO Licence Refused
What Can I Do If My PCO Licence Application Is Refused?
You will be notified in writing by Transport for London (TfL) that your application has been refused. The letter will include:
- A confirmation that your application has been refused
- The reason(s) for the refusal
- Your right to appeal the decision which includes what you need to do to appeal and the timeframe within which your appeal should be submitted
We advise to read through the letter carefully, and if you believe you have reasons to appeal, we recommend that you complete the appeal as soon as possible. You have 21 days to present an appeal. You may want to seek legal advise.
Why Was My PCO Licence Application Refused?
The reason your PCO Licence application was refused could be something as simple as you didn’t meet the application requirements e.g. not 21 years of age, but it may be because a specific medical condition or the results of your CRB (DBS) check are a cause of concern for the TfL .
It is important that you take the time to read through the reason or reasons for the refusal and if you feel that TfL have the wrong information or you have made a mistake in your application; make sure that you do not wait and put forward your appeal against the refusal as soon as you can. You have 21 days to appeal a decision from TfL. You may want to seek legal advise.
What Happens To My Application Fees If I’m Refused?
If your application for a PCO Licence is refused and the refusal is upheld even after an appeal, you will only receive a partial refund. This amount is what is known as the “grant of licence” which of the total £250 you spent, only comes to £100. This is due to the fact that the CRB (DBS) fees, medical check fees and the PCO application fees are completely non-refundable.
